Stepping Up

Stepping Up When The Boss Goes Down.

Three weeks ago, I was thrown from my horse and broke my back and three ribs. I am feeling a lot better now but have been unable to do any lifting since then. Two of my daughters, Julia and Marietta, have really stepped up. Every day they haul wood, shovel snow, and feed the animals before and after school. What great examples of demonstrating leadership when the boss goes down!

I recently finished reading a biography of Harry Truman, who had to take over for FDR amid WWII. I love his quote. "It is amazing what you can accomplish if you don't care who gets the credit."
